SunFood Organic Red Maca Powder -- 8 oz
Not a good maca product
This maca did nothing for my energy or libido, taking 3000 mg per day. I prefer Navitas Naturals gelitinized maca. The gelitinized is more easily absorbed by the body. When I took the Navitas, I noticed a distinct improvement in my energy and libido. I did not feel any improvement with this brand. Plus, this one seemed to be much harder to dissolve in water. Save your money and don't buy this product.

I love tasting new foods, so when I read about maca, I had to buy some. Before purchasing, I'd read several articles about what red maca could do, but honestly, there are so many foods purported to do similar things that I didn't expect to have any noticeable results whatsoever. I figured I'd take those health claims 'on faith' and be satisfied with an interesting treat.
I'm so thankful I decided to try! Unless I exercise first thing in the morning, I'm constantly tired. Typically, by the middle of the day it's hard for me to concentrate. The first time I tried this maca, I took a tablespoon while I was reading. Then, 10 minutes later, I was actually drawn out of my book because I felt such a noticeable and sudden difference in my energy. My tiredness had faded until only a distant, easily overlooked amount remained and didn't come back the entire day. It's been two weeks, and so far, the effects have worked this way every time.
Red maca works. However, there is a caveat. Maca is an acquired taste and the first time I tried it, I really didn't like it. There is a burnt, musky quality to both its smell and taste, as well as a bitterness similar to that of pure cocoa. It took me a few days to get used to it. While it doesn't bother me now, for a first time user, I recommend dissolving it in water.
