Coffee connoisseurs have their coffee stations in their kitchens yet we are tea snobs. We built our house with a separate tea bar with about 40 different teas. Of the teas, my husband really likes Twinings Loose Leaf Tea. One reason is tea leaves contain chemicals and essential oils, which gives tea its good flavor. When the tea leaves are broken up (like bagged tea), those oils can evaporate, leaving a dull tasteless tea. Typical tea bags are filled with the tiniest pieces of broken leaves; on the other hand, loose teas are typically whole leaves or at least large pieces of leaves. Twinings Darjeeling uses broken large pieces of the leaves which is not the best Darjeeling out there but for the price it is perfect for everyday use.
Also, for great tasting tea is the "space factor." Tea leaves need space to swell and expand. Good water circulation around the leaves is important, which doesn't typically happen in a cramped little tea bag.
Boil this tea at 200* degrees (NOT boiling) for no more than 3 minutes and you will have a great tasting Darjeeling.
