BELLY BEWARE
Let me just say firstly that I have tried a lot of low-carb, sugar-free desserts and never had a problem with the artificial sweeteners, or malitol more specifically when I eat within the recommended serving size.
I baked this according to the instructions exactly. They didn't look like the brownies on the box at all, which was a turn-off, but i let them sit in the fridge for an hour as recommended before trying them. First of all, WAY TOO MUCH BUTTER. There was literally a layer of butter that solidified all over them that I had to flick off. Kinda gross. I ate half of a serving size and saved the rest for later..it's true, they are rich and fudgy.
Half an hour later, I had intense stomach cramps and my stomach was making such terrible and loud noises. Shortly thereafter I had uncontrollable diarrhea that lasted for two hours. It was so intense, my legs were shaking afterwards for the rest of the day. I have NEVER had such an adverse reaction to a food in my life.
One look at the box confirmed my suspicions: this product is practically ALL MALITOL. Even though I can handle the malitol in other low-carb/sugar-free products, my system was absolutely overwhelmed by this.
The brownies themselves are pretty good, but it is so not worth the inevitable stomach trouble in my opinion.
