Vitacost Borage Oil with GLA Description

Supports a healthy inflammatory response*

What is borage oil?

Borage (Borago officinalis) is an herb native to Syria that eventually spread throughout the Middle East and Mediterranean. It is now cultivated in many different areas of Europe and the U.S.

Borage flowers and leaves are edible. The seeds are often pressed to produce an oil rich in gamma-linolenic acid (GLA). GLA is an omega-6 unsaturated fatty acid normally used by the body to create prostaglandins. GLA increases the content of dihomo- -linolenic acid (DGLA), which is converted to prostaglandin E1 (PGE1). Prostaglandin E1 is a hormone-like substance that plays a part in many biochemical and metabolic processes of the body.

Great price for the quality product. April 18, 2013
borage oil taking it for a few reasons.. just love your products and the prices are great September 20, 2012
Borage Oil I have dry eyes that tear alot. Since taking Borage Oil I have about 95% improvement. Before tears would roll down my face for hours, since taking Borage Oil about 3 a day it only happens very rarely & only for a short time. January 3, 2009
Tastes like fish oil I normally buy this and think that it is effective. Recently because of my reflux problem I have been biting the capsule, swallowing the oil, and discarding the capsule. This borage oil has a very fishy taste, much worse than the NSI Mega EFA (which has a very mild taste). I do not understand why borage oil would taste fishy. I have decided to try a different borage oil to see if another brand tastes fishy/bad as well. I want to find a borage oil that does not leave that horrible fishy taste in my mouth when I take the oil out of the capsule. December 12, 2008
Reasonably good value, but (unless I missed something on the side panel) this product is NOT cold pressed. August 9, 2008
