Kudzu is a climbing vine native to Japan and China that now grows prolifically throughout the southeastern U.S. Kudzu is used in traditional Chinese medicine to help curb alcohol cravings and provide hangover relief. In the U.S., it’s been used to make soaps, lotion, jellies and compost. Scientists are further investigating the plant’s effects on health, particularly for menopausal and postmenopausal women.
