Great taste! I saw on Dr. Oz that Elderberry syrup helps support the body's immune system, so I purchased this product about four months ago and have bought several bottles since. This syrup is totally pure 5,000 mg. of elderberry extract and has a pleasing sweet berry taste. I take the recommended dose, mixing it with equal parts of cold water and drink it in the morning and evenings before bedtime. Anyone would enjoy this Elderberry syrup and I highly recommend it. Mary Poppins was right.... ....a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down. This is my first time ordering the Vitacost brand of Sambucus as my normal brand was out of stock. I didn't realize it had no added sugar and I was not expecting the tart, sour taste. I'm not a "sweet tooth" but it was really awful. Plus, this is a watery liquid, not a thicker syrup as the other brands are. Every time I try to pour some (carefully) into a spoon, I spill it. I've taken to putting it into a cup directly from the bottle and adding some water. If you've never tried Sambucus before - do NOT order this brand no matter how economical. It's just not worth it. Don't waste your money. I bought this because I usually make my own syrup but elderberries have been running out of stock where I usually get them so I thought this would be a good stand in. NO. Not at all. Tastes horrible and is not effective. Buy your own elderberries and make your own syrup with honey- so worth it! December 20, 2012

Gross Tasting I gave this 5 stars even though the taste is disgusting! It is a really great value. Tiny bottles sell for triple the cost at Whole Foods. We love this product for fighting off colds. Recently I found the dried berries at a store in town so now I just make my own syrup which tastes much better. Overall, good product for a great price. December 13, 2012
