DIY Flip-Flop Foot Cure

Living in Florida, I wear sandals or flip-flops pretty much every day of the year. Which means two things: I don’t own very many pairs of socks…and I suffer from an acute case of Flip-Flop Foot (aka “ugly foot.”) The skin on my heels in particular just gets so coarse and gray. I’ve tried lots of products and while a nice, smooth lotion will temporarily soften them, that feeling never lasts; before you know it, my feet feel like sandpaper again!

DIY Flip-Flop Foot Cure

But, good news. Watching my favorite health TV show last week, I stumbled upon this DIY recipe for a “cure” to Flip-Flop Foot, and I think it’s awesome. I didn’t have to run to the store for anything because I had all the ingredients in my kitchen!

Here’s what you need:

Brown sugar (I used a whole cup)
Coconut oil (I used about a quarter cup)
Honey (half a cup, more or less)
A few drops of peppermint essential oil

Disclaimer: my measurements are very, very approximate…you might want to use more or less depending upon how thick the honey you have is, and how grainy a texture you’re looking for!
Mix it all together and you get a nice, amber-brown scrub. Rub it into your feet for two minutes to really slough away that dead skin, then rinse with warm water.

My feet—even those heel-lacious heels of mine—have been feeling really smooth since I applied the treatment on Saturday, and I haven’t even been using my usual foot lotion since then! It always amazes me that as much as I love natural beauty products, sometimes all you need is a few items in your pantry or fridge to give yourself the royal treatment!
