Ingredients
Caramel glue
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
Royal icing
Instructions
  1. Draw shapes of house on paper to use as patterns, then use the patterns to cut the stroopwafels.
  2. For front and back of house, cut 2 house-shaped pieces (square with roof shape) 1-1/2-inch wide, 1-1/2-inch long and 1-1/8-inch for roof.
  3. For other sides of wall, cut 2 squares 1-1/2-inch.
  4. For roof, cut 2 squares 1-1/2-inch.
  5. For chimney cut 4 rectangular pieces 1/2-inch x 1-1/16-inch.
Caramel glue
  1. In saucepan over medium heat, melt sugar. Mix in butter and turn heat to low
Assemble house
  1. Cut 1-1/2-inch square hole in middle of stroopwafel as base.
  2. Using caramel glue, glue sides of house around hole of base. Next, glue front and back of house.
  3. For roof, cut 1/2-inch square in middle of one of roof squares and glue chimney pieces around it.
  4. Glue both roof squares to top of house.
Royal icing
  1. In medium bowl, using hand mixer, beat egg white until foamy.
  2. Slowly add powdered sugar and lemon juice. Mix until icing is thick with shiny peaks forming.
  3. Add icing to pastry bag with round tip.
Decorate
  1. Decorate stroopwafel house with front door, roof shingles, windows and other creative additions.
  2. Add stroopwafel house to top of hot cocoa, hot tea or coffee.
  3. Eat immediately once the stroopwafel softens.
