How does NSI® P-5-P work?
P-5-P (Pyridoxal-5-Phosphate) is the active form of vitamin B6. It consists of three natural organic compounds, pyridoxal, pyridoxamine and pyridoxine, and their phosphorylated derivatives.
Vitamin B6 is a water-soluble vitamin that helps extract energy from food. It is required for the production of serotonin and norepinephrin, neurotransmitters that support healthy mood, sleep, nerves and appetite control. Vitamin B6 is also necessary for the creation of myelin, a material rich in proteins and lipids, that helps protect nerve fibers.
As a powerful antioxidant, vitamin B6 works to guard the body from free radical damage. When taken with folic acid and vitamin B-12, it may promote balanced homocysteine levels, contributing to cardiovascular health. B6 also helps the body form red blood cells, efficiently utilize protein and manufacture antibodies used in the immune system.
