Bioflavonoids are water-soluble compounds present in citrus fruits, rose hips, and other plants. In humans, bioflavonoids help maintain resistance of capillary walls to permeation and change of pressure, and have synergistic antioxidant effects with vitamin C. Quercetin is the active flavonol part of rutin. It also is used as a capillary protectant and is a more powerful antioxidant than rutin.
