try them-crunchy and filling I give these to friends for present and friends ask me where they can get more. These wheat berries give soups texture and make them more filling. I also cook instead of rice in casseroles. These berries fill you up and take time to chew, so you eat less. If you haven't tried them, you should, you'll become addicted. Makes rice positively boring. March 20, 2015
Wheat Berry Cereal My parents retired onto a farm in Michigan. My dad grew "winter wheat". The wheat is planted in the fall, germinates throughout the winter ice and snow; and sprouts in the spring. They also called it hard winter wheat and Durum wheat. My parents were extremely health conscious and worried about losing vital nutrients in the cooking process. So my Mom made their breakfast wheat-berry cereal in a thermos which she filled with the wheat and boiling water and left to 'cook' overnight. They drank the liquid - sweetened to taste - as part of the cereal. I'm sorry to say, I don't know the proportions she used; but I would guess it was something like 1 cup of berries to 3 cups of boiling water. The wheat berries come out whole and very chewy. Sometimes I 'chop' the cereal a little with a stick blender or food processor to make it less chewy and more homogenous. January 8, 2015
Bob's Red MIll Anything made from Bob's Red Mill is ok in my book! These wheat berries are great for making whole wheat products. October 21, 2014
Absolutely worth the added time for making bread. The bread is delicious, the flavor enhanced and with a delightful texture. April 9, 2014
Love these berries! These berries are chewy and delicious. Let's face it - Bob's Red Mill is the best. I make a 'waldorf' type salad with these with plain greek yogurt, honey, grapes, raisins, cranberries and pecans. YUMMM! March 24, 2014
