Bob's Red Mill Irish Soda Bread Mix Description

  • A Quick Rustic Old Country Loaf
  • Kosher

Irish Soda Bread Mix is not just for St. Patrick's Day! To make this quick, rustic loaf of bread just stir the ingredients together by hand (not in a bread machine), shape into a large loaf or individual breads, then bake. Serve this luscious hearty bread with a variety of meals-stew, soups, salads, anywhere you would a biscuit.

To make a loaf of Irish Soda Bread – to entire package of mix add 1 1/4 cup water, 1/3 cup oil and 1 egg. Mix just until blended. Turn out on floured surface. With well floured hands form dough into a ball. Pat out on lightly greased pie pan so loaf is about 8" in diameter and 1½" high. Slash with sharp knife to make a cross on top. Bake at 375 for 40-45 minutes. May bake in 9"x5" loaf pan. Good hot or cold. Try adding 1 cup of raisins, currants, or chopped dates to dry ingredients. Now, enjoy dipping a piece of the finest bread you've ever made in a hearty bowl of Irish Stew.

Quick & easy For those times when you don't want to waste 4+ hours on a bread machine. Quick, easy and tasty August 1, 2014
A delicious addition to nearly any meal This bread is easy to make and tastes good with butter or jam. A neighborhood favorite here. February 1, 2013
Easy to make, great to eat -- hot from oven. Bob's Red Mill is a beloved company in Oregon. I am not often there on weekdays; however, on weekends Bob's is the epicenter of baking for tens of miles around Portland. I love the Irish Soda Bread Mix (ISB). It is so simple -- even a 4-alarm baker like me can make a crowd-pleasing baked good. When I can't get out there on weekends It's easy to order multi bags so I have it on hand when the yen for ISB strikes. A wonderful local jelly maker creates a over a dozen incredible preserves (marionberry, loganberry, tayberry, etc.) they are perfect on Bob's Irish Soda Bread. Excuse me, I'm off to the kitchen.
