Bob's Red Mill Muffin Mix Oat Bran and Date Nut -- 24 oz
I give this mix points for being healthier than what you find in the grocery aisle. However, even with 1/2 cup honey added per instructions, it wasn't very sweet. More like a coarse textured bread. I couldn't really taste the dates and nuts. Bland and somewhat dry. The recipe calls for using just part of the mix, so you are left with about 1/4 to 1/3 of the bag.
Since I had to add one egg, oil, and honey, it didn't save that much time using this mix. I think I could make a cheaper and tastier muffin from scratch. Would not buy again since these were not popular in my family. Everyone said they were just OK.

Great base mix
I use this for making lots of different kinds of muffins and find it very convenient as well as wholesome. Adding mashed or pureed bananas, apples, prunes, and other fruit varies the flavor, as well as adding different spices. The basic mix is full of flavor by itself also.

The perfect answer for those of us who like a little desert, but want to stay away from the processed muffin mixes in the stores. If you have a bit of a sweet tooth (like me), add a little honey to the mix. There's only one problem... they disappear very quickly once they come out of the oven.
