General Sprouting Instructions (Most Sprout Seed Types)

Soak 6-8 hours in 4 parts water (warm, not hot) to 1 part seed; Some smaller seeds can be soaked for 3 to 4 hours. Rinse and drain. Spread evenly in sprouter. Sprouts must be rinsed and drained 2-3 times per day and kept from light until the 3rd or 4th day. Taste test as you grow. Warm room temperature increases growth; cold slows it down; 68 to 75F is fine. Some white fuzz may appear at first, but theses are natural capillary roots. Rinse the hulls away by immersing in a large bowl of cool wter, separate clumps, let hulls float to the surface, and skim off. this process will help prevent fermentation. Refrigerate in plastic bag after sprouting. Sprouts are best fresh and used within 2-3 days. Sprouts should have fresh smell.

General Instructions for Greens & Grasses

Barleygrass, Wheatgrass, Sunflower Greens and Buckwheat Greens

Soak seeds overnight 8-10 hours & place close together on a 1 inch or more rich organic soil. Waer. Cover with 6 layers of wet paper towels for 3 days (keep the paper wet). When the grass is 1 inch tall, expose to indirect light. Water daily. Harvest when 6 to 7 inches tall, cut off grass or greens just above the seed. For grass juice use a  hand juicer or slow RPM juicer to extract juice. Eat greens in smoothies, sandwiches or salads.

General Instructions for Special Seed Types

Chia Mustard, and Chinese Cabbage

Some seeds must be "dry sprouted". They may be grown in a soil tray or cloth. 2 layers of paper towel, cheese cloth, hemp cloth or baby blanket will work. Lay 2 layers of paper towel on a flat plate or tray and spread the seed thinly over the paper towel. Water from the side so the paper or cloth is moist but not soggy. Keep moist but not soaked. Harvest by cutting off from just above your growing medium. (Alternate: put dry seeds on a terra cotta dish. Set dish in water. Cover. The terra cotta will absorb enough water to cause the seeds to sprout).
