Tax Identification Requirement:
The National Customs Service of Chile (Servicio Nacional de Aduanas) will require, as of 1/1/2025, that all international orders and shipments have the identification of the RUT, or Rol Único Tributario to have its customs clearance started. The lack of such information may result in a ban on the entry of the order and its return or destruction, in cases where the return is not possible.
The Tax ID number is known as RUT / RUN numbers have eight digits, plus a verification digit, and are generally written in this format: XXXXXXXX-Z.
In order to mitigate the impacts of this requirement and minimize the number of items returned or destroyed, we have updated our process in which so Vitacost will now directly collect this number starting on 1/24/2025 during the checkout process via a field that must be completed along with the address entry. Entry of the Tax ID number will need to be submitted in the following format for Tax ID number known as RUT/RUN (format: 000000000) so that the RUT/RUN number can be passed to the applicable carrier selected for electronic submission to customs in addition to being available on the package label itself for use by customs in the assessment of any duties/taxes due on shipment to be remitted by the package recipient.
