J.R.Liggett's Old-Fashioned Bar Shampoo™ The Original Formula Description

  • Healthy, Beautiful, Clean Hair
  • From an Old New England Recipe

The formula for this incredible and unique bar of shampoo was discovered loosely placed in an old New England Cookbook many years ago by J.R. Liggett.

This is the cornerstone of our fine line of bar shampoos that over the years has proven itself over and over to a countless number of loyal users. This is attested to by the number of years it has been on the market.

Its 100% vegetable oil formulation lathers quickly, cleanse well, and rinses out and easily, leaving you with healthy, beautiful, and clean hair. It will not strip the natural oils from your hair (there are no detergents) for this reason most people do not need a conditioner! It just smells clean.

Squeaky clean Try this shampoo. When washing your hair you'll feel it taking the oil out and leaving your hair squeaky clean, and it's safe to use according to product review sites. May 5, 2013
Great Natural Shampoo I have tried all options for Sodium Laureth Sulfate ( SLS) free shampoos. Now they call it Coco sodium sulfate and all sorts of names that make it seem different. They are all poison. All liquid bottled options make my hair oily and don't lather. this bar is free of toxins, lathers and degreases my oily hair. I don't use anything else! I have tried all of the varieties, they all work. November 11, 2012
Good product. Hair feels stiff at first but after a week of use my hair looked and felt great. Never thought of using a soap bar for shampoo but I would use it again. The small bar lasted a long time. Good ingredient. The soap bar had a surprisingly strong and quick reaction to water that made my hair bubble quick. It also help my itchy scalp. However, this product needs to be used with a conditioner. October 9, 2012
Good shampoo at a good price I stopped using conventional shampoos about a year ago due to all the nasty chemicals that are in them. (I was getting a lot of rashes on my face and the dermatologist recommended changing all my soaps and creams. Yes, it's made a huge difference!) I tried a lot of natural shampoos and this was the best. I will say the quality of your water greatly affects how well JR Liggett's works. (The softer the better? Not really sure.) For example, it worked terribly in London but was AMAZING in Maine. And it's pretty good here in Chicago where I live. As you can tell, I love traveling with this soap. So much easier than with bottled shampoo. Overall, especially compared to the exorbitant cost of most natural shampoos, this is a very good buy. December 3, 2011
Love This Bar Shampoo First I will say that I have extremely soft spring water. Everything lathers well. That being said, the lather of this soap rivals any shampoo I've used. The blockiness of the bar makes it hard to roll in your hands to get a lather going, so just stroke it across your head/hair while the water sprays on your head. I have shoulder-length, straight, untreated hair. I haven't had to use conditioner at all with this. Hair feels soft and thicker, but also feels slightly coated. I spray on a vinegar/water mix, let it sit while I finish showering, and do a final rinse. This helps a lot. If you have hard water, you may have a different experience. I suggest you go to chagrinvalleysoap.com to find useful info on using bar shampoo. I will never go back to bottle shampoo. September 29, 2011
