Nature's Earthly Choice Minnesota Cultivated Wild Rice Description
A staple of many Native cultures for centuries, Wild Rice has a texture and taste that is the essence of a natural food-providing more than just nutrition but also sustenance for the spirit.
Wild Rice is not really rice at all but a native North American grass. A true ancient whole grain that is high in protein, wild rice is also a good source of fiber and many other vitamins and minerals. It is also low in fat, and like most rice, gluten-free. We scarify our Wild Rice, essentially cracking the hull so it gains moisture more efficiently, reducing cooking times by a third. As a side dish or as an ingredients in grain blends or baked recipes, our Wild Rice gives any meal a crunchy, wholesome quality.
Combine 1 cup of Wild Rice to 3 cups of water. Bring the water to a vigorous boil, reduce heat and simmer for 20-30 minutes. The rice is done when the kernels puff open. If you prefer chewier rice, reduce the cooking time slightly.
Wild Rice is delicious served by itself or blended with other grains..
