Falafel, a traditional dish that is a main staple in the Middle East, is a patty or a ball which is made of fava beans and chickpeas that have been ground. At Nature's Earthly Choice we have added the nutritional powerhouse quinoa to the mix, creating a great tasting, nutrient packed falafel. On their own, fava beans provide a good source of fiber, iron, and folate.  Chickpeas are low in fat, high in fiber and provide a great source of protein. As for quinoa, it contains almost twice as much fiber as most other grains and is a great source of vitamins and minerals, like iron and magnesium.


Quinoa is also a good source of antioxidant known as manganese and provides all 9 essential amino acids making it a complete protein and nutritionally wholesome meal for vegetarians! Falafel is Easy to Prepare!

Just follow these simple steps:

  1. In a medium sized bowl add contents of falafel mix to 3/4 cup of water. Mix well and let stand for 10 minutes (Avoid letting falafel mix stand too long, this can cause patties to break apart).
  2. Form falafel mix into 1 small patties.
  3. In deep large skillet heat 1/3 cup of vegetable/canola oil over medium heat for 3 to 5 minutes.
  4. Cook falafel patties in the skillet for about 4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crisp. Remove from heat, let excess oil drain from patties and serve. Enjoy!
