Falafel, a traditional dish that is a main staple in the Middle East, is a patty or a ball which is made of fava beans and chickpeas that have been ground. At Nature's Earthly Choice we have added the nutritional powerhouse quinoa to the mix, creating a great tasting, nutrient packed falafel. On their own, fava beans provide a good source of fiber, iron, and folate.  Chickpeas are low in fat, high in fiber and provide a great source of protein. As for quinoa, it contains almost twice as much fiber as most other grains and is a great source of vitamins and minerals, like iron and magnesium.

Quinoa is also a good source of antioxidant known as manganese and provides all 9 essential amino acids making it a complete protein and nutritionally wholesome meal for vegetarians! Combined to create the delicious Quinoa Falafel, this meal provides you with an easy way to add these healthy foods into your family's everyday diet.

Our Quinoa Falafel is easy to make and fun to eat. Add falafel as a side dish, make it the main course, or have it as a quick snack. No matter how you enjoy it, quinoa Falafel is sure to please. Be sure to try our other popular flavor, Roasted Garlic Recipe!

Directions

Just follow these simple steps:

  1. In a medium sized bowl add contents of falafel mix to 3/4 cup of water. Mix well and let stand for 10 minutes (Avoid letting falafel mix stand too long, this can cause patties to break apart.
  2. Form falafel mix into 10 small patties.
  3. In deep large skillet heat 1/3 cup of vegetable/canola oil over medium heat for 3 to 5 minutes.
  4. Cook falafel patties in the skillet for about 4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crisp. Remove from heat, let excess oil drain from patties and serve. Enjoy!

Delicious and easy to make This mix requires basically no cooking skills. Just follow the instructions and they turn out perfectly. I like to add some parsley and cayenne pepper to spice them up. Also love to fry them in coconut oil. Tastes awesome! December 7, 2014
Wasn't thrilled... I was super excited when I found this product. I absolutely LOVE falafel. But with celiac, its often hard to find a GF version. I followed the directions to a "T" but at the end of the soaking time, I still had a bunch of really hard, dried pieces of bean in my mixture. While skeptical, I was hoping that maybe they would magically soften as they cooked....Nope. Just ended up with REALLY dry, little falafel hockey pucks..... I took the other half of the mixture and added a little extra water, hoping that might fix the issue with the still dried beans. In short, it didn't. Just made a more soupy/messy mixture. Additionally, I found the flavor to be flat and missing that true "falafel" taste.... All around bummer. November 3, 2014
falafel These are really good. We baked them instead of frying because we are trying to cut down on oil and they were wonderful. August 18, 2014
