Certified B Corporation
A B Corporation is a new kind of company which uses the power of business to solve social and environmental problems by maintaining a higher standard of performance, transparency and accountability. The B stands for “benefit,” which aligns perfectly with New Chapter’s principles of nurturing body, soul and Mother Nature. We’ve joined over 1,000 other companies using business as a force for good by inspiring you to take a deeper look into the products you buy and encourage you to help “B the Change.” When you support a Certified B Corporation, you’re supporting a better way to do business.
By its very nature, business can run counter to the planet’s wellbeing. That’s why we continually assess our sourcing, packaging and transportation systems to ensure the New Chapter commitment is carried out. We focus on everything from recycled pens and used office furniture to the ethical methods we employ to extract our botanicals. New Chapter is working every day to make sure we tread lightly on our planet and encourage our suppliers to do the same.
Taking a stand for organic and non-GMO
New Chapter is proud to be leading the non-GMO movement within the dietary supplement industry with more than 85% of our products having been verified by the Non-GMO Project. We’re also committed to organics, using organic botanicals at every opportunity. These efforts include our partnership with Luna Nueva, a 200-acre Biodynamic® Ginger and Turmeric farm in the Costa Rican rainforest. What started as a project to grow ginger without heavy, nutrient-degrading fumigation has become an eco-lodge that teaches visitors about environmental stewardship, sustainable agriculture and community development. New Chapter is honored to be a part of such an inspiring mission.
The welfare of our people
If a product is intended to support health, it should be a healing force for every step of the supply chain – not just the end consumer. To maintain a positive transfer of energy, New Chapter only engages partners whose workers are treated with respect and provided with safe and healthy working conditions. Not to mention, we verify each member of the supply chain is compensated adequately so that they can provide for themselves and their families. At New Chapter, we promote equal rights, access to suitable housing, food, education and health care. We know that without basic freedoms of expression and leisure for all, our products wouldn’t be made with the kind of love and care we strive to share.
To the locals-- New Chapter’s hometown of Brattleboro, Vermont is a lively community with non-profit movements in the arts, local government and community service. We feel like one big family here and delightfully contribute to these area organizations each year to support that local connection.
To women in need-- Beyond our town, New Chapter lends a hand to several organizations that meet our philanthropic criteria. Yayasan Bumi Sehat in Bali, Indonesia is a network of clinics born from the discovery of widespread malnutrition which affects the health of mothers-to-be. We are committed to fulfilling the clinics’ supplement needs with New Chapter Perfect Prenatal® to support these beautiful women in need.
To the land-- Friends of the Children’s Eternal Rainforest is especially close to our hearts due to the funds they raise to purchase and protect land in the Children’s Eternal Rainforest – the largest private reserve in Costa Rica and home to our partner farm, Luna Nueva.
It’s on the Luna Nueva farm that we also created Semillas Sagradas (Sacred Seeds Sanctuary), where we conserve medicinal plants that are susceptible to climate change or loss of habitat. The New Chapter goal is to raise awareness for the need to preserve biodiversity and plant conservation. That’s why we’re working hard with the Missouri Botanical Gardens William L. Brown Center to created sacred seed gardens all around the world.
