Numi Emperor's Puerh Black Tea Description

  • Organic Black Tea
  • Bold Rich and Malty

Numi's Emperor's Puerh comes from China's majestic Yunnan Mountains where organic wild-harvested tea trees are up to 500 years old. Hand-picked broad leaves are fermented into black tea then ripened, resulting in an earthy aroma and dark sienna hue. Puerh boasts a deep bold body, smooth and slightly sweet with hints of malt. This rich, energizing tea is deeply satisfying as a coffee alternative. Numi is proud to reveal the centuries old tradition of Puerh - a highly effective healing tea.

Directions

Bring water to a full boil. For black teas, steep 3-5 minutes, as over brewing brings out bitterness from tannin, a natural part of tea. For green and Oolong teas, bring water just below a boil. Steep 2-4 minutes, to desired strength. Due to the delicacy of green and Oolong tea, careful attention is needed to capture the full taste. Serve hot or cold.

Composted tea When first smelling the steeping tea it reminded me of a barn, the smell of sweet hay with a hint of manure. Then after a minute it reminded me of compost. This makes sense since this tea is, essentially, composted leaves. It has a very mild flavor, and it must have very little caffeine since I don't feel any effect from it. It is just a very mellow and earthy tea. I enjoy it with milk. March 29, 2015
disgusting! this teas faint flavor is fish if anything! so disgusting i couldn't finish the cup. i had the cardamom which was tasty but this one is off the chart bad. May 7, 2014
high quality tea This tea satisfies my cravings for a high-quality cup of pu'erh when I don't have the time to make one from brick. Tea is earthy and delicious. Also, is from an environmentally conscious company. February 11, 2014
Refreshing Cuppa Love Numi's Puerh Teas! When I'm facing a challenging day ahead, a fresh, hot brew of this black tea keeps me focused and alert. Highly recommend. October 27, 2013
awesome!! I am a tea lover but not black tea ("lipton")! I tried this tea not really knowing it was considered to be a black tea. Needless to say i love it. It is now one of my favorite teas and I am a tea addict. It is also good iced or as a slushy. I would not even consider it to be a black tea unless it told me so. It really has its own taste. If you think your buying lipton by buying this think again. It is in a classification of its own; very flavorful. I even decaffeinate it and its is still yummy! October 18, 2013
