Pau d’arco
Description: Pau d’arco (tabebuia impestiginosa) has long been used in Central and South America to treat such diverse conditions as breast cancer, lupus, infectious diseases, and wounds. The leaf and bark are used together to treat backache, toothache, and sexually transmitted diseases. It is also believed to be an aphrodisiac.
The main components of pau d’arco are lapachol and beta-lapachone. These have antifungal properties that appear to be more effective than those of the antifungal medication ketaconazole.

Pau d’arco is recommended for yeast infections, as it has powerful anti-yeast properties.
2 However, it must be taken in large quantities, and may cause unwanted side.

Useful in treatment of: yeast infection.

Recommended Dosage: 900 mg three times daily.

Contraindications: May cause nausea, vomiting, or bleeding.3 Should not be used by pregnant or lactating women.
