White Willow
Description: White Willow (Salix alba) bark is commonly used as a headache remedy. It is also effective in relieving fevers associated with colds and flu.
White willow works similarly to aspirin. However, it is milder for the stomach and does not appear to cause some of the problems which aspirin can cause (such as Raynaud’s Disease).
Herbs which act as anti-inflammatories or analgesics may be helpful in the treatment of osteoarthritis. White willow is one of these. Studies of its efficacy in treating this condition have not been done, however.
Similarly, herbs with these properties may help in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis.

Useful in treatment of: osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis.

Recommended Dosage: 1 cup tea twice daily.
