I've purchased other brands of Unflavored Brown Rice Protein Powder for years. even this brand once before but it must have been flavored. I have no problem choking down the common chalky grainy texture and flavor of Brown Rice Protein Powder. But this stuff? I just cannot get used to it and gag every time I try to force it down. A great source of protein yes, but if you can't even stomach it, well, it's hard for me to give it more than one star.
Throw some cacao or cocoa powder in it and it's tolerable but every other brand I've tried in the past 8-10 years (yes, unflavored) is MUCH more palatable by far. I gulp down Creatine, MSM, and many other supplement powders straight and chase down with some water so my taste buds or no wimps.

Good basic rice protein powder
When blended in a smoothie with ingredients like fruit, coconut milk (or other milk), and honey or xylitol to sweeten, the taste is very mild. I like the fact that this is just the rice protein with no other ingredients so you can customize your protein drink or cereal without having to worry about ingredients you don't want. Plus it is made from non-GMO and sprouted. I got the 16 oz the first time but will be ordering the larger size in the future.

I like how much protein this product offers, however the taste is awful! I'm not a picky eater and I wasn't expecting this product to taste that great, but the taste is very strong, bitter, and chalky. It overpowers anything you mix with it. You really have to add a lot of fruit, juice, soy milk, etc. to try and make this drink somewhat tolerable. Or just hold your breath and chug it down quick! I definitely like pea protein better, even though it doesn't taste that great on it's own, you can easily blend it with a banana and it's pretty good.

So tough to get down
This is my first time using rice powder and I immediately remembered that a friend of mine used it as an facial exfoliant. It is just that gritty. I added nut better, frozen berries, almond milk.... and it was just so painful to finish since I don't ever want to waste food. I bought this size since I didn't want to invest in something bigger and I am glad I was cautious. If this is your first time then definitely ask to try a friend's before spending the money.
