great product; use in all my baking
I have used this for years instead of hydrogenated shortening. Works for all my recipes. After using non-hydrog shortening for a while, you will be able to notice the difference in taste: when you then eat a cookie or pastry with hydrogenated shortening, you'll notice the distinct unpleasant taste/aftertaste (hard to describe). My daughter did a comparison experiment for 4H, and we noticed the hydrog cookies were much crispier than the non-hydrog, but tasted almost...fake, I guess. The non-hydrog cookies had more flavor...tasted more natural and real. Especially nice to know the health benefits of non-hydrog, too.

Great alternative to Crisco. I found out that my local grocer has the same product for the same price though.

Gluten, dairy, and soy-free substitute for butter
This product has been a lifesaver for us, as we have been unable to find a decent gluten dairy and especially SOY-free substitute for butter in cooking, particularly sweets. The Earth Balance Soy-Free spread leaves a bitter taste. This does not. Neither does coconut oil, but its consistency isn't right for everything. This is especially good for icing. I've used it for buttercream icing and it was just as good as the original. Highly recommend.
