Basmati Rice is an extra long, slender grain of white rice cultivated in the fertile plains of the Himalayan Valley. Known for the wonderful aroma it releases during cooking and for its unique taste, Basmati Rice cooks up light and fluffy and is perfect for pilafs or side dishes eaten with curries, chicken, meat dishes or stews.
In a saucepan with tight-fitting lid, bring 3 cups salted water and 1 tbsp. butter (optional) to a boil. Add 12 oz. Basmati Rice (entire contents of package) and stir while boiling for 1 minute. cover, reduce heat to low and cook undisturbed for 18-22 minutes. Fluff and serve. Hit: To cook less than the contents of the entire package, use 2 parts water to one part rice.
