Vitacost Certified Organic Quinoa - Non-GMO White Description

Wholesome, quality quinoa – certified organic and non-GMO.

  • Whole food, non-GMO quinoa
  • No additives or preservatives
  • Certified organic
  • Naturally gluten free
  • 6 grams of protein + 3 grams fiber per quarter-cup serving

Quinoa (pronounced KEEN-wah) is a grain-like seed that becomes light and fluffy, with a chewy texture, when cooked. From a spinach-like plant (Chenopodium quinoa) native to South America, these tiny seeds—as well as the plant’s leaves—have been used as a food source since ancient times. Quinoa is known for its remarkable nutritional value, including its fiber and protein content.

How to cook

Simply combine 1 cup of seeds with 2 cups of water and boil, then reduce heat to a simmer, cover and cook until water is absorbed. Fluff with a fork and enjoy as a side dish or use in your favorite recipes.

Meal ideas

  • Enjoy as a side dish or in recipes (such as stuffed peppers)
  • Add to soup, chili or stuffing
  • Combine with chopped veggies for a salad
  • Use in place of couscous for tabouleh
  • Make a breakfast porridge with quinoa, fruit, nuts, cinnamon and almond milk
  • Use in baked goods recipes

Awesome Great product for great price. Much cheaper than at grocery store January 23, 2015
Worst quinoa ever I eat quinoa regularly, and have tried most of the brands vitacost carries. This is by far the worst. No matter how carefully I washed it, I was crunching on grit when I ate it. It's in the trash. November 8, 2014
Dirty? I've been eating quinoa for quite a while now and recently switched to this brand. I've ordered and eaten several packages now (both the regular and red) and every single package has a problem with a gritty, dirt type texture that I find each time I cook it. I rinse it well, but I still have the problem. I taste it with every other bite, which is not at all appealing. I keep hoping each new bag will be different, but so far, no luck and at this price, I don't want to waste it. Has anyone else experienced this? I guess it's time to switch to another brand. Good stuff My husband and I love this stuff. And our bird is in love! Never thought he would like this but he loves it. Our only problem is the bags it comes in...seems as though they are not sealed as they should be and we had to contact customer service about the spilled contents. This happened 2 times, but they took care of it. August 2, 2014
Great stuff 1st time to ever try Quinoa and I purchased this because it was Organic & NON-GMO and has a very good price. I've already gone through 2 of these and just got more which just arrived the other day and plan to buy more. so good - so why change. These do not need to be rinsed & rinsed to remove any bitter taste. The reason I know is that the 1st 2-3 times, I didn't know you should rinse, didn't and cooked it - No bitter taste to me. 1 cup Quinoa + 2 cups Water (or whatever liquid you use) June 14, 2014
