Slow Cooker Bone Broth for Dogs

Ingredients
  • Raw animal bones with marrow chicken feet, beef marrow bones, oxtail, joint bones
  • 2 large carrots sliced
  • Handful of green beans chopped
  • ¼ cup apple cider vinegar
  • Enough water to cover bones
Instructions
  1. In slow cooker, combine all ingredients except apple cider vinegar. Fill with water until bones are covered with an inch of water. Add vinegar and stir.
  2. Cook on low for 24 hours. Stir occasionally.
  3. Turn off slow cooker. Remove bones and discard. Allow broth to cool.
  4. When cooled, remove hardened fat on top. Remove vegetables and pour broth through strainer to remove bone fragments.
  5. Add vegetables back to liquid and, in small batches, pulse in blender.
  6. Once pureed, broth is ready to serve.

Feeding Instructions
-If your pet has never eaten collagen-rich foods, start with small amounts.
-Serve warm broth alone as a treat or mix into your pet’s meal.
-NEVER feed cooked bones to your pet.
-You can leave the fat if your pet doesn’t suffer from pancreatitis or obesity.

Shelf-life & Storage
-Refrigerate in air-tight container for 3-4 days or freeze for up to 1 year.
-Freezing in ice cube trays is an excellent way to have small portions at the ready, or as a frozen treat for your pet on a hot summer day.
