How does NSI® Certified Organic Spirulina work?
Spirulina (arthrospira platensis) is edible, blue-green algae consumed for its healthful benefits since the ancient Aztecs. It is a good source of protein, vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients and essential fatty acids, particularly for those who maintain vegetarian diets. 

The protein found in Spirulina is high quality, readily digestible vegetable protein consisting of all nine essential amino acids and high levels of gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), an essential polyunsaturated fatty acid. Spirulina also contains vitamin A as beta carotene, vitamin B-12 and vitamin B complex. Together, these nutrients promote increased energy levels and healthy nerve function, tissues and immune systems. They also contribute to cardiovascular and bone health. Spirulina also contains minerals, including calcium, iron, copper, iodine, phosphorus, iodine, magnesium, zinc, selenium, manganese, chromium and potassium.

The natural pigments that make up Spirulina’s rich blue-green color contain beneficial properties. Chlorophyll (green) helps cleanse the body of toxins, phycocyanin (blue) supports protein absorption and healthy immune function and beta carotene (orange) encourages antioxidant activity.
