Bob's Red Mill Great Northern Beans are carefully selected from the very best crops to please your discriminating palate. They're simple to prepare and make a wonderful side dish or addition to your favorite recipes calling for beans. Great Northern Beans are low in fat and healthfully loaded with fiber and protein.

Beans, peas, and lentils are natural agricultural products. Despite use of modern agricultural equipment, it is not always possible to remove all foreign material. Sort and rinse before cooking.

Basic Cooking Instructions

Soak beans overnight. Drain and rinse beans. Add 3 cups of water for every 1 cup of Great Northern Beans. Liquid should be 1-2" above top of beans. Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer about 1 ½ hours. Or pressure cook 8-12 minutes.

Excellent They are good sized Northern Beans. They are a good looking bean. And I really haven't seen bad beans that have to be picked out, and the beans just look cleaner. This may sound a bit odd, but they seem to have a good healthy color and look. Makes me think the ones I get at the grocery store are seconds and Bob's Red Mill Northern Beans are first pick. :-) And last but not least, I don't know IF it is my imagination or not, but they seem MORE flavorful. I cook them in water alone. And then I add what I want per serving to control the salt. What I noticed is they had a great taste without anything added to them. I thought that I could almost just eat them straight. And I have never had a thought like that about Beans. LOL! April 7, 2013
