Eden Foods Kombu Sea Vegetables Description

  • Hand Harvested
  • Wild

Eden Kombu is a wide leaf, deep growing sea vegetable that flourishes in the cold Arctic waters of Japan's northernmost island where the best Kombu grows wildly. Eden kombu is hand harvested and sun dried. We offer only the most tender central part of the leaf because of its wild flavor and pleasing texture. Highly appreciated for its food value and flavor enhancing characteristics, Kombu has been considered a health food for centuries in Asia.

Bring water and Kombu to a boil, reduced flame and simmer 4 minutes. Removed the Kombu. The stock is now ready to use as a base for making soups and noodle broth.

A great addition to my Vitacost order High quality kombu that adds that essential flavor to Japanese concoctions. As essential to my miso soup as is the miso. Jim February 17, 2012
Works great--difficult to cut. I cut up one strip of this and one of the other Kelp/Kombu product offered by Vitacost (very small pieces because they grow) into my kidney bean congee every morning. This product is very difficult to cut, even when using scissors. The little pieces go flying. But I like the balance of using both kinds. This product comes in uniform strips, so "serving" size it easy to manage. There is no zip tight bag, so I put it with the other product in a small plastic bag and tie a know. It seems to stay fresh enough for a few weeks. I store it on my counter. Kombu, it is said, is excellent for all organs. It is also high in potassium. It is the seaweed that is added to miso soup.
