Pomona's Universal Pectin™ Description

  • Contains No Sugar or Preservatives
  • Jells with Low Amounts of Any Sweetener
  • Makes 2 to 4 Recipes

Pomona's Universal Pectin makes thick jam and jelly with rich, full flavor undiluted by large amounts of added sugar. Ordinary fruit pectins require your jam or jelly to be 55-85% sugar to set firmly.

Pomona's Universal is a low methoxyl type pectin extracted from citrus peel. Its jelling power is activated by calcium (included), not by sugar content.

Now you're free to make cooked jam & jelly and freezer jam the way you like it - sweetened to your taste with honey, sugar, artificial sweetener, fruit juice concentrate or any other sweetener.

Set up well! I used Pomona's for my cherry jam this year. Love the fact that I can adjust the sugar to suit our families tastes, instead of the overly sweet, sugar heavy pectin that you normally buy. It was pretty runny when I ladled it into the jars, and I was nervous that it was going to remain runny, but the next morning I was pleased to see that as it cooled it had set up very nicely. Will be using it again in the future. August 6, 2013
good It takes a few days for it to set the jelly, then when it does its still runny. But hardens in the fridge nicely. Then turns back runny when out of the fridge for a while. I would still recommend it tho b/c of the health values of no chemicals and less sugar. The jelly taste like the fruit instead of like sugar. And I dont want my kids eating so much sugar. Will keep stocked and using it. September 25, 2012
Loved this pectin My daughters and I made 77 half pints of strawberry freezer jam in just a few hours! It was amazing to watch the jam “set-up” without much sugar! Trust me—this pectin has become a staple in our pantry from now on. July 27, 2012
best product for making low sugar jams!! I have used a low sugar commercial gelling product that you buy in the grocery store but was never satisfied with it, so I started making my jams without any pecting which is a very long process. I decided to try this out and LOVE it! I've used this to make blueberry, cherry, peach, and apricot jams and marmalades and each time it comes out terrific and is SO much easier. I also love that it is all natural without adding chemicals to my jams. Excellent product! July 6, 2012
Best product to use if you are trying to keep the sugar to a minimum with your summer fruit spreads. Plus it works with Splenda, Stevia, or Honey as your sweetner. While it seems expensive at first, it does 2.5 the recipes of other pectins per box. Making it the better choice for your health and for your wallet! May 26, 2012
