Sonne's Old Fashioned Cod Liver Oil No 5 Description

  • Norwegian cod liver oil derived from fish caught in the open water
  • Natural Source of Vitamins A & D
  • Natural Source of the Long-Chain Fatty Acids (EPA & DHA)

Our Cod Liver Oil is a rich source of natural vitamin A, vitamin D, and the essential fatty acids: linoleic, linolenic, arachidonic, eicosapentaenoic (EPA), and docosahexaenoic (DHA) acids. These nutrients are critical for normal metabolism, brain and nerve function, and protecting and building the immune system. EPA and DHA are long-chain, omega-3 fatty acids found in cold-water fish and marine mammals that support a healthy cardiovascular system. Nutritionists recommend supplementing the diet with a small amount of cod liver oil, especially during the winter months, to ensure adequate dietary intake of vitamins A and D.*

Our Cod Liver Oil uses natural Norwegian cod liver oil derived from fish caught in open waters in the North Atlantic Ocean – away from sites of industrial pollution. In order to ensure that our Cod Liver Oil is safe for consumption, we routinely use an independent laboratory to test for heavy metals and environmental contaminants (such as organochlorides).

No taste! So I'm taking this to help me get rid of my acne. Accutane is made of super high dosages of vitamin A so I wanted a natural alternative to that because I feel more confident with natural products. This cod liver oil has a good amount of vitamin A. I haven't seen any improvements yet, but I will finish the whole bottle regardless, there's other health benefits to it. Anyways, I bought a children's version with a "strawberry" flavor prior to trying Sonne's. It was lower in vitamin A so maybe that's why it didn't have any effect either. But I had a hard time swallowing it, it didn't smell but it had a fishy taste that I hated it. When I received this one I was afraid it would have a stronger taste since it didn't have a "flavor" added to it. But to my surprise, it doesn't taste nasty at all! I can just drink it with a glass of water now. I'm happy with this product. June 3, 2015
Great product! I am a WAPF follower and was wanting a CLO that wasn't as pricey as the ones the foundation recommends as "excellent." I went to the WAPF website and found that the Sonne's was recommended in their "good" category. I'm glad I found it; the price is great. I did not find the oil to be fishy UNLESS you shake the bottle, and it even says on the bottle not to shake it. I hate fish, can't stand the smell because I find it too disgusting, but I can take the Sonne's no problem. No fish taste and no fish burps. January 15, 2015
It's fine. However... It's fine, the taste is easily palatable for cod liver oil. However, they do add Vitamins A and D. I'd prefer a product with no additions even though the naturally-contained vitamin amounts fluctuate. January 14, 2015
Smell yes, but no taste! That pretty much sums it up. My husband was so excited to see me take cod liver oil for the first time since he once bit into a capsule on a dare when he was younger. Yes, it does smell like fish, but if you're into anchovies and the like, you'll be fine. but i was surprised that i didn't taste anything - it has no taste (to me). i mean i wasnt swishing it around my mouth like a fine wine or anything. quick gulp and then a bit of water. done!
