  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. In large bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, oats and salt. Add melted butter and mix gently until it forms a clumpy texture.
  3. In separate large bowl, toss together cherries, sugar, cornstarch and almond extract. Transfer cherry mixture to 9- or 10-inch pie plate or 9x9-inch baking dish. Top with flour mixture, leaving some smaller and larger clumps.
  4. Bake 45 to 50 minutes, until topping is golden and crisp and filling is bubbling. Cool for at least 10 minutes before serving.
