Teese Vegan Cheese Alternative Cheddar -- 10 oz
Very good substitute.
Used to be a cheese fiend. Good cheeses, robusto, blue cheeses, gorgonzolas, all kinds of imported cheddars, etc., a regular at the Paycheck place cheese extravaganza. So I know cheeses.
Since going vegan, I've also made plenty of batches of homemade nut cheeses, included fermented ones.
I find real cheese to be much like milk, the longer you stay away from it, the stranger it gets. I used to be a milk and cheese junkie, first I dumped the milk, then I moved away from the cheese, and now when I bump into it, it's "meh," in part because most commercial cheeses, even the pricier ones, are not made from really good milk, but that strange stuff from industrial animals that has no resemblance to anything in the years of old.
Is this like "cheese," kind of. But it's more of it's own product, and I really love this and the Teese mozzarella, they both melt great and work fantastic in pasta, on crackers, etc. The texture is closer to American cheese, the flavor kinda like a nice generic cheddar. It's a processed product, and, though I prefer to stay away from processed products, this really is great to have on hand. Very tasty. Love it with Veganaise on a sandwich with some vegetables, crackers. The mozzarella is wonderful with pesto, to even the flavors and textures out.
I have never written a review for Vitacost, but I think this product's getting a bad rap, so I took the time to throw in my two cents. Is it a fine cheese? Of course not. It's a processed food in a plastic sleeve. C'mon. Are the flavor and texture good enough to curb a craving and keep me vegan and happy? Absolutely.
Have purchased numerous times. Very much enjoy this product, and as I live in an area where vegan is pretty much a "what's that," term, I hope and pray that Vitacost continues carrying this product. Really appreciate Vitacost's wide variety of products at a great price.

Almost but no dice
The texture and color are identical to Velveeta. I tried to doctor it to negate that terrible sweet under taste but was unsuccessful. I made Mac and Teese and am now feeding the results to my dogs. They gave me a skeptical glance but will eat whatever they view as "people food".

NO...DON'T DO IT!!! Taste is very gross!!
In my vegan quest to find dairy substitutes I have tried them all....and this brand is just GROSS!! I purchased the Mozzarella and the Cheddar varieties and they taste nothing like cheese. They have this wierd butter taste....and thinking butter, that's not bad....but it is....so very funky tasting and gross. You have to buy 2 of these at a time and the remainder of the cheddar and the other little "cheese" logs are still in my fridge....I'm just gonna toss them out and call it a loss, they are THAT gross! I was born/raised on meat and dairy and now being vegetarian for the last 5 years and now going vegan I know how dairy is "supposed" to taste and this is nothing like it. Buy at your own risk, I definitely DO NOT recommend this product at all!!

Our fam loves this stuff! This makes wonderful nachos etc. The taste is very reminiscent of the old time cheese we used to eat on nachos. We have found it to be delicious!

This product is way healthier than cheese. It melts at a low temperate. This product is water soluble, unlike cheese. This Teese actually tastes like nacho cheese when melted!
