You know what two things I find totally overwhelming? Breaking old habits and making new habits. Which is pretty much ALL that New Year’s resolutions are about, right? In lieu of completely stressing myself out, I have taken to the One Thing approach. You may have heard of it? It’s simple, really, which is the kind of resolution I can get behind. Join me, this New Year, in resolving to make the switch to Non-GMO foods, supplements and beauty products one thing at a time. Really, I’m asking you to make three resolutions, but if I can handle it, you can handle it.

3 Resolutions for a Non-GMO New Year

Food

Of course, when you’re eliminating genetically modified organisms from your life, the first place to start is your food. It’s also the easiest. From almond butter to black beans to cereal, the ABC’s of it are joyfully straightforward. All you have to do is look for the Non-GMO Project Verified seal and you can rest assured the food you’re getting is not made with any genetically modified organisms.

Supplements

Do you use your label reading superpowers when choosing a vitamin or supplement? If not, don’t worry, it’s a category often overlooked. We’re so busy filling our 7 day supplement boxes and making sure we’re getting our recommended daily allowances, we don’t think to questions the source. But the good news is many vitamins and supplements are now Non-GMO Project Verified, including Bragg Liquid Aminos, Nordic Naturals Vitamin D3 and Garden of Life Perfect Food Raw Organic Super Food powder.

Beauty Products

Here’s the thing, everything we come in to contact with can enter our bodies through our skin. And you’re like, I know this, but then you go to your medicine cabinet and slather yourself with a bunch of parabens, petrochemicals and genetically modified ingredients and say, “I’m taking good care of my skin.” You can swap everything in your skin care regimen with the Non-GMO Project Verified Andalou Naturals line. They have cleanser, Q10 night cream, eye serum, daily moisturizer with SPF, and more. Beyond being non-GMO, their products are made without gluten, parabens, phthalates, synthetic fragrances, colors and preservatives. Phew! That was a mouthful.
