Unfortunately, we all grow old. No matter what we do, the calendar will always have the upper hand. However, there are a few ways to fight back against father time, and these can help ensure that the aging process is normal and healthy. It’s never too late to create a younger you.
1. Put out the smoke. Smoking is the cause of many health ailments such as heart disease, aneurysms, and emphysema. Smoking also can reduce your ability to taste, create bad breathe, discolored teeth, and can cause the skin to age prematurely. Smoking in general can be seen as a fast track to looking and feeling old.
2. Cut back on the booze. Drinking alcohol can damage your liver, and make overall bodily functions more laborious. Frequent alcohol intake can disrupt your sleeping habits and create anxiety. This stress on your body could make you look run down, and older. It is suggested that a glass of red wine a day may have benefits due to the antioxidant, resveratrol.
3. Sleep more. Most of us never get enough sleep, but that is the time in which your body recharges and repairs itself. Your cells get rejuvenated and your mind clears via dreaming. Similar to a computer, sleeping is a reboot of sorts for your mind. Getting plenty of rest also helps regulate your metabolism and may help support your immune system.
4. Balance your diet. Eating foods rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants such as fruits and vegetables is extremely beneficial. Not only are they good for you overall, but they may also support healthy hair and skin. Good fats such as omega-3, which are found in fish, can help maintain healthy hearts, circulation and joint function.
5. Take care of your skin. Your skin is the first thing people see when they look at you, so taking care of it is essential to a more youthful appearance. Cleansing your face with a gentle cleanser can clear out your pores and may prevent your skin from appearing dull or dry. Applying a moisturizer daily is a good idea, as it can potentially keep your skin radiant and young. Taking care while in the sun can also protect your youthful glow as the sun can take a toll on skin, making it look worn and leathery.
6. Hydrate. Drinking plenty of water can flush your body of unwanted toxins as well as hydrate your skin to appear younger. Studies show that the recommended water intake is different for everyone; however, drinking lots of water can be highly beneficial for your body.
