Not everyone has a sweet tooth. Maybe yours is just on vacation. Either way, a fresh greens smoothie hits the spot when you want to sip something nourishing without overloading your taste buds with sugary-fruity flavor. Sesame seeds are naturally nutty-tasting with just a hint of sweetness. Paired with frozen greens, chia seeds and a scoop of vegan protein powder, they create a wholesome drink you’ll want to down on those non-dessert kind of days.
Sesame Greens Smoothie
Ingredients
1 Tbsp. ground sesame seeds or tahini
1 scoop plant-based or vegan protein powder
¼ cup water
¼ cup unsweetened almond milk (or non-dairy milk of choice)
1 cup frozen greens of choice (recommended: zucchini and spinach)
1 tsp. chia seeds
2 tsp. flax seeds
Ice, to preferred consistency*
*Frozen greens may be enough to give this smoothie a shake-like consistency. Experiment to find the consistency you like!
Directions
In a blender or food processor, combine all ingredients, adding frozen greens and/or ice last. Blend until smooth. (Note: Add more or less almond milk for desired consistency.)
