Beauty Without Botulism

No offense to my fellow forty- and fiftysomethings who spend a lot of time (and money) getting perfected by the professionals, but I really don’t think anything involving botulism shots (aka Botox) or tossing acid on my face (peels) should be part of my get-pretty routine. Instead, I have a real passion for the magic of natural remedies. Let’s take rosehip oil, which my favorite TV doctor just cleverly referred to as, “Mother Nature’s Retin-A.”

oil from rose hips

This stuff moisturizes, exfoliates and refines without feeling like a punishing assault against those pores that dared to sag with the progression of time. The anti-aging benefits rock my world, at a whopping $10 or less a pop. (My favorite brand is NOW Solutions, which is under $6 at Vitacost.com). According to the doc, this is the best way to benefit from rosehip oil:

  1. Use right after your shower while your skin is still moist
  2. Apply 1 or 2 drops of it directly to your everyday moisturizer (I use Manuka Doctor) for maximum results.
