Brand Review: Burt’s Bees

Testing new beauty products can be fun…or a fiasco. You never really know whether your skin will react well or not. But that’s part of the process. Just like anything else in life, if you don’t take the chance then you’ll never know what you’re missing. With skincare, though, it can take a little time to see big results. I recently trialed a bunch of Burt’s Bees products for at least 30 days, some of which I can’t stop raving about. Others, unfortunately, were flops.

Here’s my take on a few Burt’s Bees health and beauty essentials:

1. Cucumber & Sage Facial Cleansing Towelettes for Normal to Dry Skin
“They smell amazing! They’re very moist…but I had kind of a weird reaction. After using this, my face not only felt warm, but it also looked very red.”

2. Cleansing Facial Towelettes with White Tea Extract
“If anything, I would repurchase these. I know they have a couple other ones, but I haven’t tested those out. Out of these two [towelettes], I would choose these.”

3. Natural Throat Drops in Honey & Pomegranate with Menthol & Eucalyptus Oil
“I always go for ones that have honey, and I like it when they have a fruity taste. They’re really really good. I would definitely repurchase this.”

4. Richly Replenishing Cocoa & Cupuacu Butter Body Lotion for Dry Skin
“It’s supposed to give you 24 hours moisturization. And I like the bottle because it has a pump, which makes it very mess free. I’ve been applying it every day. You can definitely smell the cocoa. But it’s very moisturizing and definitely a lotion consistency, so it’s easy to spread.”

5. Fabulously Fresh Peppermint & Rosemary Body Wash
“I’ve been using it every day. I was expecting it to be more minty and fresh. It’s not as strong, not as tingly. It’s more natural. It does later, which is good for a natural product. It cleanses well…but it also doesn’t feel very soapy or buttery.”

6. Intense Hydration Cream Cleanser with Clary Sage
“I love the smell! It’s clean, but like a spa-clean scent. It’s very affordable for this size bottle. It doesn’t irritate my skin. I really recommend this if you’re looking for a cream cleanser that isn’t expensive. It doesn’t lather, but you still feel like your skin is clean without being overly dry.”

7. Peach & Willow Bark Deep Pore Scrub 100% Natural
“I wasn’t too impressed, just because of one thing. The willow bark is the scrubbing agent, and I feel like it’s really harsh. And I feel like it gets all over the shower. It definitely exfoliates, but sometimes it gets painful.”

8. Shea Butter Hand Repair Cream
“You may be able to tell by the packaging that I use this product a LOT! I’m always on the hunt for very rich moisturizing creams, because I work in a hospital and constantly use the hand sanitizer. I feel like it does such a great job; it’s not oily. I feel like the lotion actually gets into your skin.”

9. Lip Crayons in Napa Vineyard, Niagra Overlook & Hawaiian Smolder
“I just dab it on very lightly, and I think it looks great. If you want to apply more, the pigmentation really builds up. It doesn’t dry out my lips and it stays a while.”
