Did you know shaving is a physical form of exfoliation? That’s right! When sloughing off dead skin cells via shaving, you are actually keeping your skin vibrant and youthful with cell turnover. In fact, men tend to naturally exfoliate their faces more than women due to the fact they are frequently shaving their facial hair! Whether you shave your face or just your body, follow these simple tips and tricks for the best, smoothest results.
Shaving grace
Shaving your face? This guide will keep your skin as smooth as a baby’s bottom.
Before shaving: Gently clean your face with the Refining Sugar Cleanser, a multi-tasking formula that gently exfoliates surface impurities as it transforms into a creamy, foaming lather to leave skin smoother, softer and hydrated. It is boosted with anti-defying peptides and crocus chrysanthus extract for added firming and wrinkle-fighting power.
After shaving: To minimize surface shine, refine pores, blur fine lines and visibly tighten the skin, apply the Clear Skin Pore Refiner. It features the NatureClear Complex™, a combination of Dermasyr (an anti-inflammatory), lilac stem cells, Yogurtene (a prebiotic), grape stem cells, probiotics and aloe, to help control oil, banish blemishes and provide the perfect amount of hydration for smoother, shine-free skin.
Finish Up: Protect your skin with our chemical-free, reef-safe, mineral-based sun protection Daily Defense SPF 17. Nourishing ingredients combine with zinc oxide to hydrate and protect in one step.
Shave the way
Body shaving? Follow these rules for a clean shave.
Before shaving: Apply a gentle DIY exfoliating scrub to loosen debris from the skin and soften body hair. Simply mix ½ cup raw sugar, 1 tbsp. coconut oil, ½ tbsp. milk and 1 tsp. baking soda, and apply to damp skin in circular motions and rinse thoroughly.
While Shaving: Lather up with a good sulfate-free body cleanser to shave with and make sure to use a new or clean razor blade when shaving your body. For the smoothest shave, you should always hold your razor at a 30-40-degree angle and slowly shave in the direction of hair growth.
After Shaving: Apply a cool, damp washcloth to your skin after you shave to reduce irritation. After shaving–just like when exfoliating–it’s important that you moisturize. Apply a hydrating lotion or organic oil like coconut oil to nourish and condition the skin.
