So why after an exceptionally hard workout do you want to eat every sweet in sight? Your body is in repair mode and needs carbohydrates to get that process running efficiently. But it also needs protein. Your only solution: a cookies and cream protein shake. Made with actual cookies (not flavored like a cookie), cacao and coconut, this vegan treat will consistently qualify as your favorite post-workout fuel.
Cookies & Cream Protein Shake
1 ½ cups almond milk
1 scoop Vanilla Vega Sport Performance Protein
2-3 gluten-free chocolate cookies (can sub for 1 Tbsp. cacao nibs)
1 cup ice
¼ cup shredded coconut
1 Tbsp. cacao nibs
1 tsp. vanilla extract
- In a high-speed blender, process all ingredients except cookies and cacao nibs. Blend on high until liquefied. Note: this may take several minutes.
- Loosely break up cookies. Add cookies and cacao nibs to blender and pulse for a few seconds.
- Pour shake into a glass and enjoy.
