DIY After-Sun Soothing Skincare Cream

Spending time in the sunshine is something you look forward to all winter. But before you step outside when the warmer weather arrives, it’s important to remember to tweak your skincare regimen. And we’re not only talking about sunscreen. After you’re finished having fun al fresco, you’ll need a gentle cream to calm and soothe your sun-kissed skin!

This simple do-it-yourself post-sun cream is perfect for nurturing your skin after a day outdoors. It’s filled with moisturizing and nourishing ingredients to give your skin some much-needed care and hydration to get you through the summer.

Makes 1/2 cup

1/4 cup pure jojoba oil
1/4 cup pure aloe vera gel
2 tbsp. Vitacost Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil, melted
2-3 drops of your favorite essential oil (I prefer lavender, citrus, spearmint or rose!)


  1. In blender, puree jojoba oil and aloe vera gel. Add coconut oil and essential oil and blend on low to combine.
  2. Pour mixture into sealable container such as a mason jar.
  3. Apply directly onto skin after sun exposure. Note: If mixture solidifies, bring container with you to warm up slightly when you head outdoors!
