This DIY Body Butter Can be Custom Scented With Your Favorite Essential Oils

Body butter is a real beauty treat. Not only does it feel luxurious and moisturize like a dream, it smells so good. Instead of buying it premade from the mall, whip up a batch at home using all-natural ingredients and whatever essential oil you prefer. The scent possibilities are endless!

Ingredients

4 oz. raw shea butter
4 oz. raw cacao butter
4 oz. raw coconut butter
Essential oil of choice (lavender, pink grapefruit, lemon, etc.)

Other Materials You’ll Need

  • Heat source
  • 16-ounce mason jar
  • Wooden spoon
  • Blender or stand mixer

Directions

  1. In double boiler, melt shea butter, cocoa butter and coconut butter. (Note: Watch carefully and stir occasionally with wooden spoon to prevent sticking or burning.)
  2. Remove pot from heat and let mixture cool slightly (2 to 3 minutes). Transfer mixture to a blender or mixing bowl (if using stand mixer or handheld mixer).
  3. Add several drops of essential oil and blend or whip the mixture until smooth and fluffy.
  4. Transfer mixture to jar. Store in a cool, dry place. (Note: Body butter may melt at temperatures of 76 degrees F or above, so be sure to store it in a cool area as far away from heat as possible.)
