Whether you’re striving for long, flowing locks or trying to maintain what your mama gave you, giving your hair well-deserved TLC will always pay off. But first you have to get to the root of it all.
I’ll readily admit that I’m a bit of a hair-products hog. However, these supplements, oils, shampoos and conditioners have all become essential to keeping my long strands looking full and healthy – despite the fact that I go months between cuts. Take note that cleansers come last. In my book, healthy hair starts from within, which is why supplements and a balanced diet are key! Moisturizing oils and overnight masques are like the icing on a cake.
Supplements:
Biotin — an essential water-soluble vitamin that hair and skin drink like it’s going out of style
Fish oil — omegas are almighty with their essential fatty acids and ability to support healthy minds, moods, joints and the list goes on
Alpha lipoic acid — mostly used for glowing skin, but the CSI formula provides biotin, vitamin E and omegas which are equally wonderful for healthy hair
Nourishing oils:
Coconut oil — I use mine topically to help strengthen my hair and help it grow
Argan oil — I apply a teeny-tiny bit to the tips of my tresses to delay those dead ends
Agave oil — a lighter consistency which soaks in and makes hair sooooo soft
Cleansers & treatments:
Nutrient-rich shampoo and conditioner — Acure Organics features argan oil, omegas and CoQ10 for an ultra-moisturizing impact, which is great for colored or damaged hair
Deep-hydration mask — the Alterna UV Rehab Masque actually helps shield UVA and UVB rays so your highlights last longer (bring on the summer sun!)
Leave-in conditioner — to use post-shower for extra body and less tangling
