Have a Regular Day

Having a “regular” day may sound boring, but it’s a good thing! It means your body is digesting and eliminating waste in a normal, healthy fashion. Occasional irregularity can throw off both your stomach and your schedule. So what are some natural ways to keep your body following a “regular” routine?

1.     Fill up on fiber. Fiber can be found in foods such as psyllium seed husks, chia seeds, whole wheat pasta, oatmeal, lentils, leafy green veggies and more. Both types of fiber, insoluble and soluble, may be beneficial for promoting healthy digestion and normal elimination. Soluble fiber (oats, psyllium husk, etc.) helps support healthy elimination by absorbing water and keeping the body’s waste moving along smoothly and steadily, while insoluble fiber (whole-wheat foods, leafy greens, etc.) can help move bulk through the intestines.

2.     Boost your “good” bacteria. Your gut is home to hundreds of different kinds of beneficial bacteria that help support healthy digestion.   Along with a healthy diet rich in fiber, probiotic supplements can promote normal digestion and elimination by delivering “good” bacteria to the digestive tract.

3.     Be balanced. A wacky eating schedule or menu can certainly throw your body’s functions off track. Try to streamline your body’s digestive efficiency and elimination efforts by establishing a daily routine for your meals. Get plenty of vitamins, minerals, fiber and other nutrients and try to avoid foods loaded with fat or sugar that can put a wrench in regularity.
