So let’s be honest—does the fact that most store-bought deodorants contain aluminum freak you out at all? Sweating and body odors are a natural part of being a human being. Clogging up your sweat glands with the same material used on the sides of your house seems kind of unnatural! I have seen all of the articles debunking any connection between conventional antiperspirants and illness—but if there’s a natural way to avoid B.O. that doesn’t involve serious chemicals, I’m all for it! I love Alvera’s aloe and almonds natural deodorant and use it religiously. But, being a DIY kind of gal, I really appreciated this recipe for homemade natural deodorant, which I saw on my favorite health TV show recently.

Homemade Deodorant

Homemade Deodorant Recipe

2 Tbsp.extra-virgin coconut oil
1 tsp.white vinegar
½ tsp.baking soda (aluminum free—of course!!)
2 Tbsp. of lemon juice or juice from half of a lemon
5 drops of an essential oil—I really like lemongrass oil because it goes well with the coconut oil and lemon juice scents!

Combine all in a small jar and apply to armpits daily. It will be creamy…you will want to air-dry after applying.
