Unpleasant household odors””from garbage cans, Fido’s latest accident on the carpet, cigarette smoke and even mildew””can leave your home feeling dirty and not very visitor friendly. Fragranced room sprays, candles and incense all help. Another option is to use a room diffuser.

A plug-in room diffuser uses low levels of heat to volatize essential oils. Simply choose your desired essential oil fragrance, apply 5 to 15 drops onto the refill pad and insert into the diffuser. Within minutes, the room will smell wonderful, and you can enjoy the benefits of aromatherapy in addition to eliminating bad odors.

For a more subtle scent, try a ring diffuser. To use, add a few drops of essential oil to the ring and place it on top of a cold light bulb. Once the lamp is turned on, the bulb’s heat will gradually diffuse the scent throughout the room.
