Your big date is this Friday night, but you don’t have the cash for a professional makeover. That’s OK! These tips will help refresh your face and give you the glow you’re looking for without breaking the bank.
Step 1: The night before, use an egg white mask. Mix one egg white with a tablespoon of honey and one drop of orange essential oil. Apply to face; let sit for 15 minutes then rinse with warm water.
Step 2: Before getting ready, apply cool tea bags or cucumber slices to your eyes for 5 to 10 minutes to reduce any redness or puffiness.
Step 3: Cleanse face. For a natural cleanser, blend four tablespoons of plain yogurt, two tablespoons of honey and three tablespoons of lime juice; wash face with mixture, rinse and pat dry.
Step 4: Exfoliate your skin. Try making a paste with brown sugar and milk, or combine honey and oatmeal (good for sensitive skin). Rub gently in an upward circular motion for several minutes; rinse and pat dry.
Step 5: Apply toner. To make your own, mix two parts brewed green tea with one part distilled apple cider vinegar (keep in jar for everyday use). Or, try one tablespoon of lemon juice mixed with ½ cup witch hazel.
Step 6: Moisturize. Mix together one tablespoon each olive, coconut and vegetable oil; add two tablespoons of mashed strawberries and one drop of vitamin E oil. After using, store in the refrigerator in a covered jar.
Step 7: Apply makeup sparingly; use concealer under your eyes and apply just enough foundation to even skin tone. A small amount of bronzer will create a natural glow. Avoid heavy eyeliner, opting for mascara to highlight lashes instead. Choose lip tint or gloss in neutral tones.
Don’t forget to cleanse your face when the night is over. For a nice, natural makeup remover, mix together one part jojoba oil and two parts aloe vera gel.
