My mother-in-law”¦Need I say more?

She comes from money (as she likes to remind me pretty much every time I see her), and everyone in her family, including my husband, went to a certain Ivy League school that rhymes with the word “Marvard.” 😛 Now I have a high school freshman who is a super-sweet, smart kid but is probably not Marvard material and I am OK with it. But she’s not.

I swear, if she asks my son one more time about his grades or asks me when we’re starting with SAT prep, I am going to lose it. The great thing is she and my FIL are offering to pay private tuition (because we already have made the case that public universities are a great bargain) so I actually don’t want to completely alienate her. But I feel like her comments are making my kid feel bad about not being a rocket scientist, and that bothers me.–GENEVRA
